Alora Health is a heated massager you lie back on for ten minutes. It kneads the base of your skull and the tops of your shoulders, which is where most knots and 3 p.m. headaches start.

Sound familiar?
It starts in your neck. By the end of the day it's everywhere.
You carry your day in your shoulders a little at a time: the deadline, the drive, the kid on your hip, the phone in your hand. By evening it has turned into a headache, a sore jaw and a body that won't settle when you finally lie down.

Why it all connects
Your headaches, your jaw and your sleep run through the same few muscles.
When you're stressed or bent over a screen, you brace the same muscles every time: the small ones at the base of your skull, the ones down the sides of your neck, and the big ones across the tops of your shoulders. Hold them tight long enough and they send pain to places that don't feel connected.
The base of your skull
The World Health Organization describes tension headaches as a band of pressure that can spread "into or from the neck." For a lot of people it starts right here, where your skull meets your neck.
The sides of your neck
Your neck and jaw tighten together. In a US survey of nearly 190,000 people, more than half of those with jaw-joint pain also had neck pain.
The tops of your shoulders
The knots you can press with your fingers. When researchers pressed on knots here, the pain often traveled up into the head, and nearly half of people with chronic tension headaches said it felt exactly like their usual headache.
The switch that won't turn off
A braced neck keeps your body on alert, so you lie down exhausted and nothing lets go. In one controlled study, ten minutes of neck and shoulder massage nearly doubled a measure of relaxation compared with ten minutes of rest.
That's why rubbing your temples or rolling your shoulders helps for about a minute. The tension sits at the base of your neck, and that's where Alora Health works.
It feels like warm hands on your neck, because it's shaped like them.
Most neck massagers are a flat pillow with bumps that roll against the back of your head. Alora Health has two tall prongs that cradle the back and sides of your neck, so the kneading lands where a massage therapist would put their thumbs.
Heat
Up to 42°C (107°F), like a hot towel on the knot.
Knead
Four nodes press in, circle and switch direction.
Stretch
The shape gives your neck a gentle stretch as you lie back.

For her husband
"I purchased this item for my husband for Christmas. As a stubborn man, not wanting anything, he wasn't expecting to really love this gift. He uses it daily and looks foward to it every night he gets off from his 12 hour shifts."
One for you. One for the person who carries the most.
It's the thing people end up sharing whether they plan to or not. "I bought it for me but my husband absolutely loves it and uses it more than I do." Another reviewer, after her husband took over: "I have now lost my recliner." Two massagers are $359 and three are $499. Bundles are the only way we ever take money off.
It can feel strong the first night, especially if you have a lot of knots. Start on the lowest strength with the heat on, and turn it up once your neck gets used to it.
Where exactly does it go?
Under the back of your neck, with the two tall prongs on either side of your spine. Not under your head like a pillow. If you can feel the nodes on the back of your skull, slide up an inch.
Does it help with tension headaches?
If your headaches start in your neck and shoulders, this is exactly the spot it works. Tight muscles at the base of the skull are one of the most studied causes of tension headaches.
Can I use it in bed and fall asleep?
Yes. It turns itself off after 10 minutes, so plenty of people use it in bed and drift off with it still under their neck.
Is it easy for older parents to use?
Yes. There's no app and nothing to strap on. You set it down, lie back, and press one button. It charges with a USB-C cable like a phone and switches itself off.
What if it isn't for me?
Email support@alorahealth.com within 30 days of delivery and we'll send you a return label. Once it's back with us we refund your card, minus $15 for return shipping.
Tonight
Give your neck the last ten minutes of the day.
